Today (27.12.2009) it is two years, that our little prince has left us. I don't know why it took us so long to give our story in. This website has been important to understand what happened to us and if something could help, than the fact of realizing, that we are not the only ones in the world with this 'time bomb condition'. I blamed myself for the accident happening. I thought i could have prevented it, but reading the stories helped me acknowledging, that only our gyn could have prevented Julian's death (and she is still ignoring this truth).
After a picture book pregnancy, 5 days over due, I woke up from feeling something warm dripping on my legs, I saw it was blood, immediately I jumped out of the bed and all the water mixed with blood came out. We rushed with emergency lights to the hospital, arriving there, Julian was delivered within 11 minutes by c-section. Julian was born without heartbeat and immense loss of blood on July 23rd 2007.
The doctors resuscitated him - they gave him 2 blood transfusions and 4 injections of adrenaline - the 9th minute his heartbeat came back.
4 weeks intensive care, 6 weeks rehabilitation program - then we decided to take him home with us, where we had the best 10 weeks with him - and that is all the time he spent with us.
Our travel with Julian was intense and we learned a lot from him. We tried our best to make him feel as comfortable as possible - and the best thing we could do, we figured out, was not all the therapies doctors suggested us, but to carry him all day long on our arms and just love him the way he was. Forgetting about 'teaching' him to swallow and move in different patterns from his. That mostly put more stress on him - we could hear that by his heavy breathing. The more calm, natural and safe we felt with him, we could make him feel secure and he developed in his possible ways.
We still wonder who Julian was and who he could have been, having direct contact with him was very difficult but there were moments where it was possible.
Still we can't believe that this story happened to us. Julian was here and he will always be with us!
He is also Kaspar's big brother.
(Kaspar is born the 9th of march 2009 and everything went fine).
