I had an uneventful first pregnancy with Low
Lying Placenta diagnosed at 20 weeks during a routine scan. A further
ultrasound was booked for 36 weeks to determine whether this had improved but
during such scan the sonographers were baffled as the placenta had moved but
there were numerous blood vessels floating around, under our baby's head. I
then had an internal scan and numerous Consultants were puzzled by what they
saw. A senior Consultant diagnosed vasa previa and booked an elective
Caesarean, to be carried out at 37 weeks but I was instructed to get complete
bed rest as to labour early would almost certainly have devastating
consequences. |
